Photo Diary: Denver

Some people need a red carpet rolled out in front of them in order to walk forward into friendship. They can’t see the tiny outstretched hands all around them, everywhere, like leaves on trees.
— Miranda July, 'Nobody Belongs Here More Than You', Miranda July

And some people do see the tiny hands and can recognize the green veiny lines imprinted on their palms — outstretched, waiting to take hold. Some people pick up the pieces of their broken kiss and use them to build a mosaic on their best friends’ cheeks. Some people step back to keep the people they love most, fitted within frame from every angle. They let colors blur as soft as each moment — No photo could capture the depth of love, anyway.

‘Some people’ are my best friends. Who rally when they can tell that I’m down and fly with me to sit with me as I melt into soft grass. To offer me the shade of their leaves. To help me make the best of it.

Wishing for you dear, some time amongst the leaves.
